What is autotune?
Autotune moves each sung note onto the nearest note of the song’s key. Set hard, notes jump from one to the next: the robotic effect heard in rap and pop. Set gently, it fixes notes that are a little off and keeps your slides and vibrato.
How do I get the robot autotune sound?
Set Correction to Hard: the robot effect. For the strongest version choose Every note (no key), so each note snaps to the nearest semitone.
Which key should I choose?
Leave it on Find it from my voice and the tool picks the key from the notes you sing. If you know your song’s key, choose it: the tool then only moves notes onto that key’s notes.
Is it free? Do I need an account?
It’s free and needs no account. The download is free too, with no watermark.
Is my voice uploaded?
No. Your recording is tuned in your browser and never leaves your device.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes. It works in the browser on iPhone, Android, tablets and computers, including singing straight into the page.
How accurate is it?
On the clips above, Coffee’s notes sat a typical 12 cents from the key’s notes and 2 cents after Hard; Crazy Glue, pushed 38 cents sharp, came back to 3 cents on Strong. On all four of Josh Woodward’s vocals it found his published key for three, and the relative minor, the same notes, for the fourth.
Can it autotune my voice live, as I sing?
No. Record first, here or in any app, then tune the take. Live autotune needs an app or a microphone that corrects you as you sing.
Can I autotune a song with music in it?
Not well: autotune follows one voice, and instruments confuse it. Take the music out first with our free vocals-only tool, tune the vocals here, then put them back over the music.
Can I autotune a video?
Yes. Choose an MP4 or WebM video and the voice in its sound is tuned. You get the tuned sound back as a WAV, not the video.
Is autotune the same as pitch correction?
Yes, it’s the same job. Pitch correction is the general name; Auto-Tune is the best-known pitch correction software, and its name became the everyday word.
Does it use AI?
No. It measures your pitch with the YIN method and moves it with PSOLA, classic sound processing that keeps the character of your voice. It all runs on your device.
Is there an app to download?
No, and you don’t need one: it works in the browser on any phone, tablet or computer.
