What is BPM?
Beats per minute: how fast a song goes. Slow ballads are around 60–80, pop songs 100–130, dance music 120–130.
How many taps do I need?
4 taps give a first reading; 8 or more make it steady.
Can it find the BPM from a file?
Yes, use our free BPM and key finder: it listens to the file and works out the speed and the key.
Does it work without sound?
Yes. It only counts your taps, so nothing is recorded or uploaded.
Does it show decimals?
No. It shows the whole number closest to the average of all your taps.
Is it a metronome?
No, it only measures. To check your tapping, play the songs above: the songwriter’s tempo is next to each one.
Does it work for songs in 3/4 or 6/8?
