How in tune do you sing?

We play a note, you sing it back. Five notes, one score out of 100. Low and high voices both work: singing the same note in any octave counts.

You’ll hear 5 notes. After each one, sing it back on “aah” and hold it until the bar fills. Headphones help, but aren’t required.

Whatever your score, you can hear yourself sing any song perfectly. Your first 2 songs are free to make and hear.

How it works

  1. Allow the microphone and put on headphones if you have them.
  2. Listen to each note, then sing it back on “aah” until the bar fills.
  3. Get your score and see which notes were sharp or flat.

Questions

How is the score worked out?

For each note we measure how far your steady pitch was from it, in cents (100 cents is one semitone). 10 cents off scores about 95, 30 cents about 64. Your score is the average of the five notes.

What is a good score?

Above 75 means you land close to most notes. Many people who don’t sing regularly score between 40 and 70, and practice moves it up quickly.

Is my voice recorded?

No. Only the pitch is measured while you sing, on your device. Nothing is saved or uploaded.

Why do headphones help?

Without them the microphone can hear the note we play. We pause listening while it plays, but headphones make the test cleaner.
